How to Make Sure Everyone Sees your Tweets

You are probably reading this in complete disbelief thinking that you never knew that everyone hadn’t been seeing your tweets. Well the truth of the matter is, if you’ve been starting your tweets with @reply, only the person you are sending a tweet to and their followers are seeing that tweet. Many people have tried to figure out what the problem is, and quite frankly there isn’t a problem, it’s just the way Twitter set up their system.

  • How is this possible?

Twitter is under the belief that if you are sending a message that starts with @reply, then it is only meant for the person you are sending it to, and the followers under that person. Now, for some reason, if all the people that are following you are following the person you are sending the @reply to, they too will see the tweet. If none of your followers are following that person, none of them will see that tweet, even if you thought they were.

  • What kind of problem does this pose?

Let’s just say that, you are sending some important information to someone that actually needs to be shared with everyone on that list, or everyone in the circle of followers. The person you sent the message to that begins with @ will be the only person seeing the message outside of their own followers. Your followers will not see it, or the people that are on a specific list. With that being said, it will be imperative to have this issue fixed and the information you need is right below.

  • The Fix:

In order to fix this issue so everyone that is following you and the people that are following the person you are sending the message to, is to only use the @reply in the body of the tweet. That’s right, you have to simply start your tweet off with characters other than the @sign and you will be fine. The other way is to use a simple character before the @sign like ‘@, and this will do the trick.

If you’ve been wondering if this is true or not, take a moment and send a tweet to someone that starts off with the @reply, and see if any of your followers see your tweet. Then try the method listed above, and see if that fixes the problem.
