Twitter is truly exciting, short-lived and highly competitive. In a matter of seconds, your tweet is there and then gone. It immediately gets replaced in the feed with someone else’s tweets.
People who know Twitter also know the nature of this social network. Thus the question many ask is: How do you effectively navigate through the Twittersphere and get noticed. After all, your end objective is to make a few friends and followers and keep up with the frequent Twitterers?
It is a fact that we consume a high volume of content on a daily basis. You must exercise your imagination and continually ask yourself “What new things can I say that nobody has already said a thousand times before?” Determine what will ultimately appeal to your target audience?
Your sincere objective should be to think outside of the box and provide users with something that works. In short, you should be your own story-teller.
You can learn from others. Look at who people are and what they are Tweeting. Do they appear to be like someone you like and respect? If so, then follow and engage with them.
Engage them with other relevant, entertaining pieces of content. Study the repository of content in their network. Understand their community of followers, and you will most likely find some great connections through others.
You may otherwise use Twitter to fulfill your passions. Twitter participation will then become exciting. Remember that not everything has to focus on your business objectives although be continually mindful about your brand and brand alignment.
Remember the Golden rule: “Treat others as you want them to treat you” or the Biblical saying “Give and you shall receive”.
All this means is you should share and care. Be thankful for the engaging, quality content that is tweeted by those you follow and those that follow you back. Communicate by sharing appropriate content. It is that simple- trust your audience, and they will trust you back.
Make your content relevant, high quality and timely. Make sure the piece of content is interesting and informative before you share it. With so many millions of tweets out there, try to become a source of knowledge and inspiration and a thought leader.
Be human and engage with people of all types and at all levels. This humane approach will set you apart from others and it will help you stand tall amidst the clutter and get yourself noticed.
