Why Twitter Is a Good Marketing Strategy

For those that have been using Twitter for quite some time, you are probably not trying to find out why Twitter is a good marketing strategy. For those that are new, or those that haven’t really had success, you’ll surely want to read on because you’ll discover some information here that will surely interest you. Twitter has really taken social networking to the next level. But it is important to understand that twitter is a different tool than many of the other social sites, so it will take a different marketing strategy in order to be successful.

One of the biggest mistakes Twitter users make is they follow, and are followed by, users that are in the same business they are. One of the other problems is the users they follow have absolutely no interest in the products and services they provide. Ok, we can go on and on with the problem list, but let’s talk about some positives. Twitter allows 140 characters per post right? So, let’s say you use up all the characters allowed. How are people going to be able to re-tweet something they like? How are they going to add the @yournamehere?

You see, Twitter is a community of people that use Twitter as a tool as well. If they see something they like in a tweet, they will retweet it. If they see that you are simply filling the space with sales pitches and long URL’s, they won’t bother passing your important message along to others. Twitter is an excellent marketing strategy, but it will need to be used in a way that people can relate to, and when they do, your business will take off.

It will be important to find followers that are interested in the products and services you provide. If you are a writer, you do not want a bunch of followers that are writers as well, you want readers. If you are an internet marketer and you sell muscle enhancements, you want followers that use them, not others that sell them. The next step is to make sure your tweets are short and to the point. When adding URL’s, convert them to ‘tiny’ URL’s. Always leave room for retweets just in case people like your products or services and want to retweet them.

Another important aspect will be participating in the community on a regular basis. People want to see that you are someone who is not just spamming Twitter with a sales pitch, but you are actually a real person. Make these small adjustments, and you will see why twitter is a good marketing strategy.

  1. I had a aversion towards Twitter for a while, this post really showed how it can be strategically used for businesses.

  2. One sector you have not considered is tourism, where following and retweeting each others vacancies throughout the country benefits the whole tourism industry and raises awareness of your region thus “growing the cake” so everyone gets a bigger slice.
