How to Dominate Social Media – Social Media Marketing

The Nielsen Company (Nielsen) and McKinsey & Company (McKinsey) recently announced a global joint venture, NM Incite, created to help leading companies harness the power of social media intelligence. This means that the Big Boys are really starting to take a serious look at social media as a marketing tool.

We can all learn from the people and businesses who have gone before us. Watch what they are doing and modify their processes and procedures to fit your business. It is so much easier to do this with Social Media Marketing.

You can go out and find people and business who are doing a good job on platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Social Media marketing makes it super easy to keep an eye on what they are doing. You can pull examples of what you see is working. Check out their style, do you like it, is it something you can see yourself incorporating into your business?

You will have to look around because there are a lot of people who simply are not “doin’ it right”. A few excellent examples are Mari Smith, Jeff Herring or Vin Diesel. These people are warm, friendly and inclusive. They have activities, questions and interaction on their sites and profiles that are both inviting and empowering to their friends and followers. They are approachable and they are not just about “pitching their stuff”! They will answer your questions and comment on your posts.

On Twitter take a look at American Express and Best Buy, notice what they are doing. Best Buy even has twelpforce, a profile manned by… “A collective force of Best Buy technology pros offering tech advice in Tweet form.” Plus they offer a way to search the twitter stream to find the answers you are looking for.

We all need to evolve and continuously innovate the way we work. Social media marketing is simply another tool for you to add to your tool belt, many people are jumping right in and reaping the benefits. Others are dragging their feet and believing that it is a fad that will soon go away. Which one are you?

Go out and do some research on companies in your niche, big and small companies and local and global. Find the companies that are doing a good job of engaging their customers and clients. There is so much happening on a daily basis you will be able to find both good and bad examples very easily. Just “Google”!
