How to Use Social Media For Corporates – Social Media Services

Get ready to take your business to the next level.

Social media is more than a passing trend; it is changing the way we do business. The old phrase…

“people want to do business with people they know, like and trust” Bob Burg

has never been more true than it is now. Social media is a way to get to know lots of people quickly, develop relationships that can be only on-line or taken to the face to face arena. I believe you need to do both.

When you have a presence on the major sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin and YouTube you want to make sure that you use the same picture for each site. The reason for this is when people find you on the second site you are already familiar, they think to themselves “Oh, I know this person!”. This way they are more likely to follow, subscribe, friend or connect! There are millions of people out there looking, social media allows you to put your product or service in front of more people that you ever thought possible.

Providing value is a very effective way to establish yourself on the internet, but what if you do not believe you can do that yet? Then what you do is share the information of others, become the go to person because you have the answers. In order to do this you are going to have to check out lots of information in your niche. Two things you can do to make this easier and more productive for yourself are…

  1. Learn to skim. There will never be enough time to read everything you want to read. Learn to skim past the noise and recognize when there are conversations and content worthy of your time to read carefully. How many times have you arrived on a site, spent 10 – 15 minutes reading only to discover there really was nothing of value for you? Learning to skim, check out the bullet points, what’s in bold or headings & sub headings. This way you will more easily find the information that will be of value to you
  2. Establish a set of trusted sites to read frequently. No matter what niche you’re interested in, you absolutely must identify the trusted, valuable sites in that area. Read their content carefully, as in many cases, those at the top are the conversation starters for those in the tail. In other words: Following the leaders can keep you at the forefront of the greater conversation. Make sure you subscribe to the sites. You can also set up Google alerts so that the information is delivered to your email box at a frequency you decide.

Learning to use social media can be fun and you will be amazed at all the wonderful people you will meet. Some will become customers, some will become friends and some will become both.
